UMW Toyota Start Order Taking for Toyota Prius C

Update 9-Jan 12:20 PM: Specs and price for Prius c is now posted on UMW Toyota's website. 5 colour options will be available, but there is an additional RM800 for the Lime White Pearl CS option.
Last week, we posted a story on the upcoming Prius c, and said that unofficial sources indicated that the car will be available by middle of this year. What we didn't expect however was how soon the Prius will be launched in Malaysia. Today, we were informed that sales personnel at UMW Toyota have already begun order taking for the Prius c. We also cautioned that despite the low starting price in Japan (lower than the base model Honda Insight), it is unlikely for the Prius c to have a lower starting price than the Honda Insight's RM 99,800.
While selling price of the Prius c have yet to be announced officially, it is estimated to be around RM103,990.
We obtained a copy of the Prius c's sales leaflet, but the resolution is rather low. From what little we can gather, the Prius c appears to offer very good value for money, with equipment levels matching or even exceeding that of the Honda Insight.
A more powerful 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine lifted off the previous generation Prius is a good starting point, although due to packaging contrains in the smaller Prius c,  the electric motors used had to be smaller and slightly less powerful than the outgoing Prius.
Standard safety features includes 7 airbags (dual front, front side, curtain and driver's knee) with electronic stability control (VSC in Toyota speak) and ISOFIX child seat support. Comfort features includes cruise control, climate control (single zone) while iconic party pieces from the larger Prius, the TouchTracer steering wheel button control and colour TFT screen were also included.
A 2-DIN size DVD player cum reverse camera  is optional, which we think is worth considering. Based on initial pictures from the Japanese market models, the only let down in the interior is the green backlit 2-DIN audio unit that looked like it was lifted off some 90s era accessories shop.
